29 May 2005 - 23 October 2005

In the 1960s, as the New York School, greatly supported by Clement Greenberg, grew as an artistic mecca, increasingly Australian artists focused their artistic practice towards a less provincial and more international sphere. 6 years abstracted: 1967 – 1972 explored the influence of the International art scene, in particular American Modernism, on Australian abstract art created in the late 1960s and early 1970s by those artists whose works were shaped by the power of this international energy. The exhibition drew on works from the TWMA collection and other selected collections. Curated by Jenna Blyth
