Artist conversation: D Harding

D Harding  (Bidjara, Ghungalu and Garingbal) makes artworks from the raw natural materials available to them on Aboriginal territories to shift the experience of a space and reference places of uplift and import.

Here they speak about soil in the context of our current exhibition, The Soils Project, and how it can encompass various perspectives, including discourses, politics, realities, goals, and aspirations. Working with Wandoon Estate Aboriginal Corporation, they highlight the importance of listening to custodians and their soil care practices, knowledge systems, and community engagement efforts, while also having fun and experimenting with colours in a contemporary context.

The Soils Project closes 12 November 2023.
