Summer Sketching Series

Sunday 6 January 2019 - Sunday 27 January 2019
11AM-3PM

Spend your Sundays at TarraWarra Museum of Art for our free outdoor sketching workshops taking place throughout January. Led by experienced drawing teachers, these workshops are suitable for all ages and experience levels – so let the stunning views of the Yarra Valley inspire you and create your own masterpiece to take home. All materials provided, or bring along your own. Free, no bookings required.

Sunday 6 January – Sketch with Skywhale

To launch the series, Patricia Piccinini’s iconic floating sculpture Skywhale will be tethered from the Museum grounds for this session only! Standing tall at 23m-high, Skywhale rarely appears in public so don’t miss your chance to see this mythical creature in person.

Sunday 13, 20 and 27 January – Yarra Valley Vistas

Please note that the appearance of Skywhale is subject to weather and wind. Skywhale is only able to be tethered for a limited amount of time (generally around 2 hours) and we encourage visitors to arrive at 11am for the best chance of seeing and sketching Skywhale on this day. Large crowds are expected at this session so please bring your own sketch materials if you have them to avoid having to wait for a sketch board to become available. These workshops are outside with limited shade so please remember your hat and sunscreen. In the event of extreme heat, these workshops may be cancelled. Please see our website and social media for latest updates.
