biik ngangak: Listening to Country workshop with Brooke Wandin (Wurundjeri)
Join us for this two-hour workshop led by Wurundjeri woman, language worker, artist, and educator Brooke Wandin.
Centred around the Eva and Marc Besen Centre’s landscaping designed by OCULUS and Wurundjeri horticulturalist and artist Craig Murphy-Wandin, this is an opportunity to learn about the cultural significance of indigenous plants and animals, the continuing reciprocal relationship between Wurundjeri people and Countryand the revival of Woiwurrung language.

Brooke Wandin is a Wurundjeri woman, language worker, artist and educator. In 2022, Brooke was a State Library of Victoria Indigenous Victorian Aboriginal Cultural Research Fellow. During that time she grew and expanded a database of Woiwurrung from archives and manuscripts in their collection. `Through her art practice, Brooke transforms archival material into creative illuminations. Recent exhibitions include Emu Sky, University of Melbourne, 2022, and The Soils Project, Tarrawarra Museum of Art, 2023, and Soils, Van Abbemuseum, Eindhoven, Netherlands, 2024.
Brooke teaches regularly at Healesville Primary School, sharing both ancient and more recent histories. Her most treasured time is teaching language to her family at Coranderrk.
