TarraWarra Museum of Art has announced it will be the exclusive Victorian tour venue for the Archibald Prize 2019, Australia’s oldest and most prestigious art award, from 14 September to 5 November 2019.
Presented by the Art Gallery of New South Wales and ANZ, the annual portrait exhibition provides a snapshot of Australian culture – from politicians and celebrities to sporting heroes and authors. Since its inception in 1921, the prize has been awarded to some of Australia’s most celebrated artists including William Dobell, Brett Whiteley and Del Kathryn Barton.
TarraWarra Museum of Art Director, Victoria Lynn, said, ‘We are delighted that Australia’s mostloved and eagerly anticipated art award, the Archibald Prize, will return again to TarraWarra Museum of Art in 2019, direct from its premiere at the Art Gallery of New South Wales.
